Agriculture Minister Stanislav Becík from the HZDS party announced after the government session on September 2 that he will meet his party boss Vladimír Mečiar on September 3 to discuss his departure from the ministerial post.
"We'll close the matter tomorrow to the satisfaction of the whole of society," Becík told the TASR newswire.
When asked whether he will leave politics, Becik said that he will decide following talks with Mečiar. Becík also declined to comment on media rumours that he was offered the vacant post of environment minister, which is being temporarily occupied by the Deputy PM for a Knowledge-based Society, European Affairs, Human Rights and Minorities, Dušan Čaplovič.
The HZDS leadership decided at an extraordinary session last week that Becik should give up his Agriculture Ministry mandate. TASR
