Average monthly wage should exceed Sk17,200 in 2005

The average monthly wage should exceed Sk17,200(€440) this year, which would be an increase of 8.7 percent on 2004, financial analysts say.

Even if Slovak salaries keep rising at the current rate, they would remain the lowest in the European Union, the daily SME wrote.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) claims that low salaries in the eastern part of the EU are linked to the lower labour productivity, though Slovak labour productivity has been increasing.
