British hiker dies in Slovak mountains

Mountain rescuers in Slovenský Raj assisted in the attempted resuscitation of a 69-year-old hiker from England. The hiker was then treated by a doctor who came via helicopter but resuscitation attempts failed, the TASR newswire wrote on June 30. According to one of Slovenský Raj mountain rescuers, Dušan Leskovjanský, the Englishman may have experienced sudden faintness but the exact cause of death will only be known after an autopsy.

This is the second case of dead hiker in Slovakia over the past two days. The cases are likely to relate to weather as Slovakia is currently experiencing a heat wave.
