Two developers have shown interest in the planned industrial park in Vežký Meder (Trnava region), it was reported on January 13. An Italian company wants to place light-industrial production and also car and electro-technical industries suppliers in the park. Another company, based in Bratislava, wants to set up a Central and Eastern Europe logistics centre for a Swiss furniture producer.
"There is a negotiation ahead of us,” Mayor of Vežký Meder Ladislav Rudický said. “The offered price will be the deciding factor."
The town decided to build an industrial park on an area covering 30 hectares. "Approximately 1,000 people commute daily to work outside of Vežký Meder, around 500 of whom have found jobs in Hungary," Rudický said. He added the arrival of new companies in the industrial park would help solve this problem.
"Companies that don't exist anymore left many people here with professional skills that would certainly be appreciated by new employers," Rudický said. The launch of construction work at the park is set for March, and it should be completed this July. The costs have been calculated at Sk60 million (1.8 million). TASR
