SOUTHERN Slovakia experienced a minor earthquake on the evening of January 29. The epicentre was in Hungary, only 33 kilometres south-east of Komárno, a town on the Slovak-Hungarian border.
Residents from Dunajská Streda and Trnava said furniture moved and walls shook.
According to the US website, earthquake.usgs.gov, the tremor occurred at 18:41 and reached a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale.
“I felt the whole living room moving,” Mária Hrkľová from Komárno told the SITA newswire. People also felt the quake in other towns and villages in southern Slovakia including Nové Zámky and Levice.
No injuries or property damage were reported due to the earthquake.
