Employment in Slovakia in June was lower than a year ago in all monitored economic sectors, the TASR newswire wrote. Slovakia’s Statistics Office reported that the number employed dropped the most in wholesale trade by 13.2 percent, in information and communication activities by 12 percent, in accommodation services by 8.1 percent, in restaurants and pubs by 9 percent and in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 7.7 percent.
On average for the first six months of 2010, industry employed the largest number of people, 474,000 of whom 426,000 were in manufacturing. The construction sector employed 179,000 people, the retail sector 152,200, selected market services 119,100, transport and warehousing 111,100, wholesale sector 95,600, information and communication activities 33,400, restaurants and pubs 28,800, sale and repair of motor vehicles 21,200 and accommodation services 9,600 people.
