The Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull that last month paralysed air traffic over a huge part of Europe has started to release dark smoke again which indicates intensifying of volcanic activity and the possibility of a new eruption, the Sme daily wrote.
Irish aviation airspace was closed on the morning of May 3 due to a change in the ash cloud’s movement – it is nearing Ireland from the south. The British Civil Aviation Office also closed the airspace over Scotland and Northern Ireland. However, the transit of airplanes from the European continent to the UK over Irish airspace has not been limited, according to Sme.
The flights of Ryanair from Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik airport (BTS) should not be limited on Tuesday, May 4. There are two flights from BTS to London – in the morning - and to Birmingham – in the afternoon.
“We expect some of the flights, especially from and to airports in western Ireland and Scotland to be cancelled,” Ryanair stated on its website. It is recommended to check the flight schedule on its website as the situation might change at anytime.
