Fico said that the deadline for submitting the government's manifesto to parliament is May 2, as the government is obliged under the constitution to submit its programme and initiate a subsequent confidence vote within 30 days of being appointed. President Ivan Gašparovič appointed members of Robert Fico's Cabinet earlier on Wednesday. Fico said he would provide the opposition with enough time to study the document.

As of Thursday, April 5, social partners are expected to put forward key issues that they would like to discuss with the government and be included in the manifesto. Bilateral talks with individual social partners are to be scheduled for April 11. "We don't want to make a fig leaf out of this; the negotiations will be serious, difficult and protracted," said Fico, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
