The prime minister was hospitalised on April 14, after having some problems with his heart. He underwent surgery on April 22. The public did not know much about his health condition as he repeatedly refused to inform about it. NÚSCH and also ministers provided only basic information.

Fico was replaced by his two deputy prime ministers. The government’s programme statement was introduced in the government by Deputy PM for Investments Peter Pellegrini, while Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák led the government’s sessions, SITA wrote.
