Although yesterday she denied that Fico would be released, today institute spokesperson Dobroslava Krajačičová on May 1 announced that Fico has gone home.
Fico also announced his release from hospital on his official Facebook profile. He thanked the doctors and nurses at NÚSCH for the care provided to him and other patients, describing the institute as a top-level facility.
“Now I face recuperation,” Fico said, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
“The prime minister continues to carry out his official duties and is communicating with his closest professional environment,” Fico’s spokesperson Beatrice Szabóová said.
Fico was admitted into NUSCH on April 14, eventually undergoing a heart surgery, allegedly a double bypass, on April 22.

Fico allegedly continued to carry out his official duties also during his hospitalisation, the Sme daily wrote. “He participated in the management of the government,” Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák stated on April 29, adding that Fico has already signed a newly passed law.

Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko, who had an operation on his digestive system, left hospital too, to continue recuperation at home, the SITA newswire wrote.
