The average retail price of 95-octane petrol in Slovakia was Sk39.32 per liter as of January 10, according to data of the Slovak Statistics Office. The retail price of LPG amounted to Sk22.06 per liter. The average price of diesel was Sk41.27 per liter in the monitored period. Compared with prices from January 2, the average price of 95-octane petrol went up Sk0.41, the price of LPG increased Sk0.27 per liter and the average price of diesel rose by Sk0.42 per liter.
In January 1997, the price of 95-octane petrol was Sk22.39 per liter, and one liter of diesel was sold at Sk20.89. Prices gradually increased, and during the first months of 2000, they exceeded Sk30 per liter. Over time, prices approached Sk40, which they broke through in September 2005. As of September 4, 2006, one liter of 95-octane petrol cost Sk40.47 and 98-octane petrol was available for Sk43.09. Drivers paid Sk41.26 per liter of diesel and Sk21.69 for LPG. SITA
