ON DECEMBER 16, police filed charges against seven Germans and six Slovaks caught in a bribery scheme to issue driving licences, the Pravda daily wrote.
Of the Slovaks, three were policemen, one was an interpreter, one was a doctor and one ran a driving school.
The crime took place in Poltár, and involved three workers from the district inspectorate.
The Germans had been stripped of their licenses or failed driving tests in Germany. They offered the Slovaks over Sk300,000 (€ 9,958) to help them get driving licenses without fulfilling the legal requirements.
An investigator from the Slovak Anti-corruption Bureau charged the Germans with bribery.
The interpreter and the doctor were accused with accepting bribes.
The policemen were charged with accepting bribes, abusing power and mishandling personal data.
The Germans face two to five years in prison.
The Slovaks accused with accepting bribes face five to 12 years.
