The Slovak Street View Tips project, part of the Google na slovenskú nôtu / Google the Slovak Way initiative, was launched on February 27, 2013, in cooperation with the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR). Slovak users voted for those locations they wanted photographed for the service. Out of the 4,000 tips submitted, 10 locations (Bardejov, Betliar, Bojnice Castle, Čičmany, the Calvary in Banská Štiavnica, Orava Castle, Slovenský raj, Spiš Castle, Vlkolínec and the High Tatras) were chosen, of which the final three were selected in March at www.tipy.naslovenskunotu.sk.

More than 30,000 votes were tallied, with the High Tatras garnering more than 6,500 votes, Slovak Paradise earning 5,500 votes and Orava Castle receiving 3,500 votes. Photographing of the locations is planned for this summer, when special Street View three-wheelers and Street View Trekkers will arrive.

“We have improved Slovak Google Maps since 2007, and Street View photos are one of their most marked supplements. This technology is of big importance for both individuals and companies in regional tourism,” Janka Zichová of Google’s Czech and Slovak arm said.
