Health-care facilities owe €41.7 million to Sociálna Poisťovna

Receivables of the social insurance provider Sociálna Poisťovňa (SP) from health-care facilities amounted to €41.713 million as of the end of June 2009, states a document submitted to the Slovak cabinet on unpaid health insurance premiums on October 6, the SITA newswire reported. Hospitals owed €32.672 million to the social security provider in the same period a year ago.

SP had registered claims with 27 health-care providers, six of which are under the jurisdiction of the Health Ministry and 21 are private hospitals, SITA wrote. Motions for distrainment proceedings were filed against four private hospitals for outstanding sums of €1.916 million, of which €1.248 million has been recovered.

Claims against hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Health Ministry amounted to €26.876 million as of June 30, 2009, representing 64.4 percent of overall receivables. SITA
