Slovakia’s Industrial Production Index (IPP) increased 8.4 percent year-on-year in February 2012, the Statistics Office announced on April 11. When seasonal influences are factored in, industrial production increased 2.8 percent month-on-month in February, the TASR newswire reported.
Overall production was influenced by increases in manufacturing by 10.7 percent, in mining and quarrying by 9.5 percent and by a decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supplies by 4.2 percent, TASR wrote.
The most significant increases were recorded in production of transport vehicles - 31.7 percent, production of metal and fabricated metal products except for machinery and equipment - 9.4 percent, production of machinery and equipment not classified in specific categories - 6.3 percent, production, repair and installation of other machinery and equipment - 17.8 percent, and in production of electrical equipment - 11.7 percent.
Production volume fell most significantly in the sector of production of computers, electronic and optical products, by 12.3 percent, and in the production of coke and refined petroleum products, by 9.3 percent.
