IN ITS election program the opposition conservative Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) will continue to reject the adoption of the European constitutional treaty.
The party argues that the document is not in Slovakia's economic interests.
According to KDH Deputy Chairman Július Brocka, "the KDH will not agree to any form of economic and political centralization within the EU".
Brocka added that his party would continue to defend the flat tax and unitary VAT rate in Slovakia.
The opposition Free Forum's Branislav Opaterný agreed.
"We support the flat tax," he said, adding that the 19 percent income tax rate could be cut further to 15 percent.
The current ruling SMK and SDKÚ parties are also in favor of the flat tax, as is the non-parliamentary Slovak National Party, the SME daily wrote.
