Šaca, a district of Košice, is the planned location for a co-generation steam-gas cycle plant worth approximately €500 million.
Investor KPPC has announced it is planning to build the power plant in the eastern Slovak city, the SITA newswire reported. According to the investment intention submitted by the company for an environmental impact assessment, the installed capacity of the combined steam and gas cycle should be 880 MW. Annual production of the unit, which is to be built in the Bociar industrial park, is projected to be between 3,400 GWh and 4,500 GWh. Its output will depend on the variant selected by the investor.
KPPC intends to begin construction in April 2012, with completion planned for 2014. The investor expects construction work to employ 900 people, with an operating staff of 20. Gas turbines burning natural gas mixed with air will form the basis of the cycle.
KPPC, which is based in Košice, was established in October 2008, according to the Commercial Register of the Slovak Republic. SITA
