“The reason for his dismissal was the gross violation of his oath of office,” the ministry informed the TASR newswire. “Keeping him on the force would be detrimental to important interests of the state service.”
A violent, one-sided skirmish between the Paška brothers: Maroš, Martin and Branislav; and a quartet of Košice locals, including two females, occurred on November 22 and was recorded by a street CCTV camera. The three brothers, nephews of former Smer speaker of parliament Pavol Paška, face charges of battery and riotous conduct. In light of the fact that one of them was a traffic policeman, the case was dealt with also by the Interior Ministry’s internal affairs.
Martin Paška was dismissed over the case from his post as Košice Housing Company technical director and another of the brothers lost his job of public procurement department head at Košice-based Louis Pasteur University Hospital.
The victims of the attack are being represented before the court by MP and Nova leader Daniel Lipšic, former lawyer and justice minister.
