The daughter of three-time former PM Vladimír Mečiar was attacked by a mentally deranged woman on June 1 and beaten with a hoe while attending a function to celebrate international day of the child.
Magda Gáliková-Mečiarová suffered three blows to the back, while her mother, Margita, was struck in the face. The younger woman is seven months pregnant. Her medical condition after the attack was not released to the public.
While Mečiar’s HZDS party claimed the current government and media were to blame for inciting intolerance and hatred, police said the woman had apparently attacked because she disliked a song played at the ceremony, and had no idea of the identity of her victims.
