There is no need to fear the introduction of the euro in Slovakia, German Free State of Saxony Minister-President George Milbradt said on April 3 during his two-day visit to Bratislava.
Milbradt, who attended the third Slovak-Saxony Economic Forum, regards Slovakia's economic results as excellent, and he told SLOVAKIA that the country's prospects "in the near future are quite good".
However, he does concede that inflation may occur after the introduction of the euro, but "reality is one thing and the psychology another".
He told forum participants that the development of the transportation network (TEN-T) is crucial for European economic co-operation. People in Saxony are interested in the transportation corridor between Dresden, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest that leads all the way to the Black Sea.
On April 2, Milbradt held talks with the Slovak Deputy PM Dušan Čaplovič and the Transport, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Ľubomír Vážny about the development of the high costs of the railway transportation network within the European Union. The forum resumed on Friday, April 4, in Košice. TASR
