An unknown person on Thursday published a follow-up to the 'Sasanka' document - a transcript of numerous short text messages exchanged between Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) chairman and former speaker of parliament Richard Sulík and businessman Marián Kočner that appeared on the internet a week ago. The newly-released parts of the document also deal with the October-November 2010 period, when Sulík was speaker and the election of the general prosecutor was being discussed.
"We provided a detailed statement on the first SMSs. These SMSs [published on Thursday, February 2] haven't brought anything new today, so we don't see any reason to comment on this in some special way any further," said SaS spokesperson Tatiana Tóthová, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
Sulík has confirmed that he was in the habit of meeting Kočner, but says that he doesn't remember the exact wording of the text messages they exchanged. The leaked transcripts indicate that Sulík, who at the time occupied one of the most senior constitutional positions in the republic, discussed live political issues, namely an SaS-initiated national referendum and the fraught selection of the general prosecutor, with Kočner. An analysis attached to the transcripts states that it could have been SaS MPs who secretly voted for Dobroslav Trnka, the opposition candidate for general prosecutor, despite an agreement between Sulík and other ruling party leaders that they would not. Trnka fell only one vote short of being selected in a ballot in December 2010; Prime Minister Iveta Radičová had said before the vote that she would resign if Trnka were elected.
