Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) MP Igor Hraško said that he chose to dress in Turiec regional folk costume to the first session of the new parliament in order to uphold traditional values of national culture.
"Originally, the folk costume wasn't my idea but I embraced it very quickly," Hraško, a folklorist and dance teacher by profession, told the TASR newswire. He refused to specify who came up with the idea. In future, the OĽaNO MP plans to conform to MPs' usual dress code and wear a suit. It was only the ceremonial occasion of being sworn in that he wanted to experience while wearing a "ceremonial national garment", he stated.
