ABOUT 150 people attended a demonstration in front of the Russian Embassy in Bratislava on March 3 to support Ukraine.
The activists called on Russia to withdraw its troops from the occupied areas of Crimea, the SITA newswire reported.
“The Russian Federation has committed a breach of international law, interfered with the sovereignty of the state of Ukraine and thus threatens international peace and security,” the text of the call reads, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
The organiser of the demonstration, Radovan Eugel, who is a member of the NOVA party, said that he organised the protest as a civic activist.
“The aim of this protest is to express disagreement with the steps of the Russian Federation,” Engel told SITA.
Some Slovak MPs participated in the demonstration as well. Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKU) MP Ivan Štefanec called on Russia not to do to Ukraine “the same that you did to us in 1968”, SITA quoted.
Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Peter Osuský called Putin “the worse face of Russia”.
Civic activist Eduard Chmelar said that it is in the interest of small countries like Slovakia to make sure superpowers like Russia adhere to international law.
