I don't believe in increased spending on security or the military - it doesn't bring us more security, only a false sense of it. Instead, the old EU15 members should reform their economies, much in line with what Slovakia has done.
That way the Lisbon goals would be reached, although being number one in the world shouldn't be a goal in itself. Improving the lives of Europeans should be, and quality of life can't be measured entirely in euros.
