IT IS TRUE that many Slovaks would like to come to the US to work. Would it not be better to have them come here legally? Many Mexicans and other Latin Americans come here by illegally crossing the border ; they are welcomed by employers and the inflow is difficult to stop. US industry was built 100 years ago by many Eastern Europeans who came here for work. They became responsible members of American society, learned the language and their children and grandchildren became educated and have contributed even more to the US. Just as in the past, today's Slovaks should be able to come to the US and use their strong work ethic to help both themselves and the US
