Another proposed cabinet measure, this time trying to support new car sales in Slovakia, hit the headlines of Slovak media. An owner of car that has been in service for more than ten years could see its scrapping value go up by €2,000 as early as Monday, March 9, reported the Sme daily.
The government cabinet approved a so-called scrapping bonus of €1,000 or €1,500. The buyer of a new car who brings a 10-year old car for scrapping to an authorized car dismantler may receive even a higher amount if the new car seller contributes an additional €500.
The measure hopes to increase sales of new cars but the measure opens space for speculators, writes the daily Sme.
