The Slovak government and parliament should think seriously about leaving the European Union, said Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Ján Slota at a press conference on Tuesday, January 11.
“What's happening with the euro and the dollar ... I’m convinced that this is going to end badly. The EU is starting to become a millstone that could drag us down very deep,” said Slota, as quoted by the TASR newswire. According to Slota, the EU’s lawmaking is turning it into an authoritative regime or a kind of a ‘superstate’ that wants to dictate everything to everybody. “The SNS supported Slovakia's accession to the EU, but not to a super-state,” he added.
Slota’s SNS is the smallest party in the Slovak Parliament, and is currently in opposition.
