A second suspect thought to be involved in the 1998 death of János Fenyõ, a Budapest media entrepreneur, was arrested by Slovak police based on a European arrest warrant and extradited to Hungary last week. His name has not been released but he is suspected of having been the driver for another Slovak man, Jozef Roháč, who is alleged to have carried out the 1998 drive-by shooting, the Budapest Times wrote.
Roháč is suspected of carrying out at least ten bombings and assassinations in Budapest in the late 1990s and had been extradited to Hungary from Prague in February 2009 after a decade on the run. After being released from custody in Hungary he was detained in Slovakia in February 2011 and since April 18, 2011 has been in Hungarian custody, the TASR newswire wrote.
Roháč is also suspected of being involved in a bombing that killed four persons in downtown Budapest in July 1998, including its presumed target, businessman Tamás Boros, the key witness in a Mafia-style fraud trial. The current charges against Roháč relate to a failed attempt in 1997 to murder Zoltán Seres, a Hungarian businessman with underworld connections, and the gunning down of Fenyõ in the drive-by shooting in February 1998.
TASR wrote that the police said the suspect extradited last week did not cooperate with them but that DNA evidence is available that is now bolstered by the arrest of the suspected driver in the shooting.
