THE SLOVAK Tourist Board (SACR) is launching a campaign with a video promoting Slovakia as an attractive year-round destination. The short advertisement, entitled “Slovakia. Best friends forever”, will be broadcast on YouTube in Poland and the United Kingdom, the TASR newswire reported on October 7.
“The campaign is targeted particularly and directly toward people who tend to use Google to search for topics related to holidays, travel guides, ski packages and sightseeing,” said SACR spokesperson Martin Šebesta, as quoted by TASR.
By focusing on Poland and the UK, the SACR wants to maximise the campaign’s impact and seek relevant information about potential tourists from the two countries that could be useful in the future.
“We picked Poland mainly because according to statistics Polish tourists visit Slovakia most often and at the same time they have no problem understanding the English commentary in the video,” SACR general director Marta Kučerová told TASR.
She also said that the SACR chose the UK because the number of British who visit Slovakia has risen by 12 percent in the first half of this year.
“We want to boost this trend with this campaign, attracting more people from Great Britain.” Kučerová added.
SACR estimates that as many as 13 million people in Poland will see the video within the following month, which would represent 70 percent of the Polish on-line population. At the same time, approximately 2.3 million people in the UK are expected to see the promotional spot, TASR wrote.
