One of 33 Slovaks returning from Mexico and arriving at Prague's Ruzyně international airport on Sunday, May 3 was hospitalised in that city with a suspicion of having the A/H1N1 influenza, Public Health Office (ÚVZ) spokesperson Lenka Šramková told the TASR newswire on May 3.
Two other tourists who were transported to Slovakia went directly home, even though they should have been hospitalised in Bratislava on Health Minister Richard Raši's order. Because they were not suffering from any discernible symptoms they were released.
The travellers are scheduled to undergo tests, ministry spokesperson Zuzana Cizmarikova told TASR. Although suspicion of A/H1N1 flu has already appeared in two cases in Slovakia, there are currently no confirmed cases of this kind of flu in the country.
All the regional ÚVZ offices are on an emergency setting due to the virus and they are keeping informed via the World Health Organisation (WHO), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and Slovak Epidemiological Information System (EPIS) and are fully competent to answer questions from the public.
