SE spokesperson Jana Burdová explained that it is already the eleventh general overhaul with partial exchange of fuel. Preparations of the planned overhaul were started in September 2009 with the new management system SAP Nuclear, which secures over 40,000 operations of individual orders of the complex overhaul process.

SE said that the total duration of the outage will be influenced by work on the reactor and also non-destructive checks of the steam generator.

“For the public, the unmistakable sign of an outage is missing clouds of steam above the two cooling towers,” said Burdová as quoted by SITA, adding that the company will inform the public the moment the overhaul is completed.
