The Slovak Labour Ministry announced a tender to find a contractor to evaluate the projects of the ministry that were financed from EU funds. The tender lasted for only three days and not all those who registered at the ministry’s website hoping to participate in the tender were informed, the Sme daily wrote.
The “external evaluators” of the EU-funded projects will be financially rewarded for judging the project proposals. The ministry, headed by Viera Tomanová, stated that all the applicants for this review process were not informed because there were too many of them and the system collapsed and failed to send all emails on time.
From the 30 applicants that finally took part in the tender and fulfilled all criteria, the final selection of the evaluators will be chosen by a draw. Former secretary at the Labour Ministry, Miroslav Beblavý from the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) said that the tender was a mockery and manipulation of public procedures.
