REPRESENTATIVES of the ruling Smer party who have failed in their posts should be removed and replaced by new nominees. Prime Minister Robert Fico announced during the party’s June 28 working congress that he wants such changes.
Smer’s regional and district heads are now to help carry out this measure by submitting personnel audits of all Smer representatives holding public posts by July 8, the SITA newswire reported.
The audit will concern Smer nominees in public administration and managerial positions. Those who have performed poorly should be replaced by new nominees, SITA reported.
The regional heads of the party should also propose the resignation of district chairs whom they believe to have failed in their positions.
“Some are acting arrogant and power-driven,” Fico told the delegates on June 28, as quoted by SITA, arguing that changes are needed.
Additionally, Fico is supposed to draft an ethics code for the party by July 10.
These are some of the changes that the ruling party is making in response to declining support among voters and poorer-than-expected results in the European Parliament elections.
