Opposition Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) head Pál Csáky said it’s regrettable that SMK Deputy Chairman Miklós Duray was involved in a traffic accident on October 12, after which he refused to undergo a breathalyser test.
Csáky declined to comment on whether Duray damaged the party’s image with his behaviour. He pointed out that SMK MPs József Berényi and Gyula Bárdos had already taken a stance toward this issue, leaving nothing more to add. Bárdos said that MP immunity should apply only to actions committed in parliament. Berényi thinks that Duray made a mistake and the party should discuss his behaviour.
Zsolt Simon, a critic of the leadership, emphasised that this was not the first time Duray refused the breathalyser test. He thinks Csáky will take no stance toward it because he has a strategic partnership with Duray. SITA
