Slovakia’s Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) is not worried that it might be dissolved, as it views an attempt by the Slovak National Party (SNS) to have it abolished as merely part of a campaign in the run-up to regional and local administration elections in November and next year's general election, SMK MP József Berényi said on October 7.
Berényi added that he won't make any further comment on the SNS move, as he doesn't want to lend extra publicity to the SNS ahead of the elections. "It's part of their election campaign and diverts attention from how the SNS ran its ministries," he added, pointing to the scandals plaguing public procurement projects managed by SNS nominees at the Construction and Environment Ministries (events at the Environment Ministry have since led the prime minister to strip the SNS of control of it).
