The Telecommunications Office of the Slovak Republic lifted all duties imposed on the company Slovak Telekom related to wholesale transit service in the fixed public network in a decision released on October 2, the SITA newswire reported.
The watchdog agency thus abolished regulation of one aspect of the telecommunications market for the first time ever, according to regulator spokesman Roman Vavro. The ruling has not taken effect yet and Slovak Telekom can appeal it.
A so-called three-criteria test was carried out before the decision which showed that reasons for regulatory measures no longer exist and the market in question cannot be considered a market that should be regulated. The outcome of the test was consulted at national and supranational levels, and the Antitrust Office of the Slovak Republic raised no objections. The European Commission, too, stated it had no remarks to the process and the result of the test, reads a press release by the telecom agency, as quoted by the SITA newswire. SITA
