EVEN THOUGH the essay topics on the final examination in Slovak language for secondary school students were leaked on the internet ahead of the tests, the exam will not be repeated.

The Education Ministry claims the questions could not possibly have leaked from the ministry or the State Pedagogy Institute. Education Minister László Szigeti denied any leak from the institution under his management.

However, the young man who put the topics on the Internet said it had been easy to obtain the tests, and said he believed the test questions had leaked from schools, the SME daily wrote.

The minister said that teachers might have broken the ministerial seal and opened the envelopes, but that in any case the tests would not be repeated.

State Pedagogy Institute Director Anna Butášová said that teachers who had opened the envelopes ahead of time had failed professionally and ethically.

According to the Pravda daily, after the test questions were put on the internet, students sent them to each other by means of phone messages.
