TV broadcasts for Slovaks living abroad to begin in 2010

Deputy Prime Minister Dušan Čaplovič expects the launch of television broadcasts for Slovaks living abroad will take place this year, his spokesman Michal Kalinak told the TASR newswire on February 15.

Čaplovič met the director of the Slovaks Living Abroad Office, Vilma Privarová, to discuss television broadcasts for Slovaks abroad and the meeting resulted in the drafting of content guidelines, programme structure and technical measures.

According to Čaplovič, the technical aspect of the broadcasts is a matter of comparing several alternatives. The Slovaks Living Abroad Office is looking into the options for satellite and internet broadcasts. Čaplovič told TASR that the final decision will be influenced by financial considerations. TASR
