The Public Procurement Office (ÚVO) complied with the complaints filed by these two consortia and overturned the National Highway Company’s (NDS) decision to expel them.

The NDS will now require the companies to submit their bids by January 15, 2008, Igor Choma, Director General of the National Highway Company and government proxy for the accelerated construction of selected priority road transport infrastructure, told the SITA newswire in December.

Choma confirmed that the electronic toll will start functioning from January 1, 2009. According to earlier unofficial information, three consortia were expected to advance to the second round of the competition - Satways headed by Slovak Telekom, a group led by the Austrian company Kapsch and a group Slovakpass headed by the Italian highway company Autostrade per I'Italia. Other consortiums - Ibertax, one represented by the Italian company Studio Altieri and a group led by the Austrian company Strabag – were disqualified.
