The industrial zone in the town of Hlohovec (Trnava region), also known as Hlohovec-Horná Sihoť, will be expanded by two more operations later this year, the local council said on January 9. In the first half of the year, South Korean company JMT will begin assembling circuit boards at its first European plant, which it began building in autumn last year. The company, which plans to create 400 new jobs, will supply compatriot firm Samsung, which is manufacturing LCD flat-panel televisions near Trnava.
In the spring, Nitra-based company Transkam, specializing in the distribution of food products, is set to embark on the construction of a logistics facility with a total investment of Sk100 million (€3 million). It expects to employ 70 people. The largest investor currently operating at Hlohovec-Sihoť is French concern Faurecia, which built a Sk1.2-billion plant for manufacturing car components. Germany's Vetter invested Sk185 million in the processing and packaging of dried fruit. The two companies have created 530 jobs between them, and both are looking to expand. TASR
