"Why did I become a diplomat? My honest answer is - I was bored." Gautam Rana is the ambassador of the United States of America to Slovakia.
Prior to coming to Slovakia, Ambassador Rana was an attorney, deputy head of mission and long-term chargé d'affaires ad interim at the embassies of the United States in Algeria and Slovenia. He was also posted as a diplomat to the cities of Khost in Afghanistan, Peshawar in Pakistan, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He arrived in Slovakia in September 2022.
"Coming back to what I said, I think Slovakia continues to be a strong ally", says Rana.
Almost two years into his posting to Slovakia, US Ambassador Gautam Rana believes that Slovakia and America will continue to have a great relationship. In the podcast he also talks about the Slovakia-Ukraine relationship, as well as the relationship between Europe and the USA.
