Slovakia’s young football players earned three more points in Group A of the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship held in Poland. They won the match against the current champions from Sweden 3:0.
The Slovak goals were scored by Martin Chrien, Jaroslav Mihalík, and Ľubomír Šatka.
Slovakia now has 6 points and is second in the group, after winning against Poland and losing against England, which leads the group with 7 points.

Altogether, 12 teams are participating in the U21 EURO tournament, divided into three groups. Teams play each other once, with the winner and the runner-up with the most points from the three groups advancing to the semi-finals, which will be a knockout competition.
Before the match, the young Slovaks were second in their group with 3 points. Portugal (group B) and the Czech Republic (group C) were also in second place in their groups with three points each, the TASR newswire reported. This makes predicting which teams will play in the semi-finals very difficult.
There are several scenarios for the team’s potential advance to the semi-finals, the Sme daily reported. Slovakia will have to wait for the results from the other two.
