Christmas tram hits the streets of Bratislava

You can take a ride until December 30.

The ninth year of the Christmas tram in the capital has started. It is decorated with 25 light chains (made from 3,000 lights), along with a 37-metre-long decorative garland. Last year, the Bratislava Christmas tram won third place among Christmas trams in central Europe.

“Many people cannot imagine pre-Christmas time without the Christmas tram,” said Martin Rybanský of Dopravný Podnik Bratislava, the company who operates it, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

Passengers can hop on the tram near the Slovak National Theatre (SND), right next to the Christmas markets at Hviezdoslavovo Square. The tram continues through SNP Square, Kapucínska Street, the tunnel, SNP bridge and back to SND. During workdays, it from 16:00 to 20:00, and 10:00 to 20:00 on weekends. The tram operates every half hour. The tram will not be in operation on December 24 and 25.
