The ski resort is to open, with the new lift already operating, shortly before the Christmas holiday, on December 20.

While last year, the visitors’ rate was at average level last year, the resort owner, Jaroslav Strachan, expects an increase in their numbers this winter season. “We upgraded the comfort of the whole resort – be it from the point of view of gastronomy, transport or parking,“ Strachan told SITA. A restaurant and a new car park have been included among novelties, too.

The ski lift is 803 metres long, with an altitude difference of 134 metres, the owner said, adding that the departure station lies at an altitude 999.5 metres, the terminal station lies at 1,129.5 metres. The capacity is sufficient to serve all skiers.

A new ski kindergarten will also appear in the ski resort. “Parents will be able to leave their children there while skiing, there will be staff to look after them,” Strachan added.

Currently, the ski resort with slopes suited also for beginners and families with children is waiting for frost to start; then, they will launch artificial snow-making. Strachan Ski Centrum has also a 12-km track for cross-country skiing, on the ridge of Spišská Magura.
