Passengers travelling from Bratislava to Vienna by train will be facing complications from next Monday due to repair work.
On March 4, Železnice Slovenskej Republiky (ŽSR), a company in charge of rail tracks in Slovakia, will begin to reconstruct the track running from Bratislava’s borough of Devínska Nová Ves to the Austrian town of Marchegg.
As a result, the REX Bratislava - Marchegg - Vienna interstate line will be suspended.
The repairs should last until mid-December, the Železničná Spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) national carrier noted.
But passengers can still get on long-distance trains to make it to Vienna. InterCity trains stop at the Petržalka, Nové Mesto, and Predmestie stations.
To reach Petržalka station from Bratislava’s main railway station, passengers can use buses 93 or N93. They won’t need a bus ticket. It is enough to present their international train ticket to the ticket inspector.
REX trains from Petržalka to Vienna run every hour, every 30 minutes during peak hours. The REX line transports passengers to Vienna via Kittsee.
