In late October, Eset, the Slovak company creating security products protecting internet users from cyber threats, unveiled new security solutions for home users.

“As internet threats get more and more diverse, users need more complex internet security suites with features based on individual preferences,” explains Eset CEO Richard Marko. “Our new product portfolio fully reflects this trend.”

One of the biggest and latest threats is ransomware, which encrypts its content in the infected device and requires ransom for decryption. Thus when a user encounters a really sophisticated kind of ransomware and all security layers of the latest security solution fail, then the ransomware protection begins. While it monitors the behaviour of applications and processes running on the device when the encryption of data occurs, it enables the user to stop such an action. As a consequence the user would lose only some data.

With the new line of products, Eset emphasizes the need for privacy while operating PCs and laptops. Among the new features of its product range are Webcam Protection regulating access to the camera, Password Manager for easier and safer authentication and Secure Data for convenient and strong encryption.

After Eset found that at least 15 percent of home routers are unsecured, it added Home Network Protection to its solutions. It enables users to test home routers' vulnerabilities, such as weak passwords or out-of-date firmware, and offers them options for remediation. It also provides an easy-to-access list of connected devices, with devices categorized by type and identification of who is connected. This helps users see how safe their home networks are.

“New layers of protection, Eset Smart Security Premium, improve our customers’ overall security,” says Palo Luka, chief technology officer at Eset. “On top of providing top notch protection against malware threats, Eset customers can now protect their files, passwords, webcams and even their entire home network, all with a single integrated solution.”
