SLOVAK employers are cautious when it comes to their hiring plans for the final quarter of 2013, according to the latest survey conducted by Manpower Czech Republic and Slovakia. The employment agency conducted its regular quarterly survey on a sample of 752 employers across the country.
“The survey for the fourth quarter of 2013 further shows that 8 percent of employers are planning to increase their workforce, 7 percent predict a reduction in staff, and 80 percent of employers are not planning any changes to the number of their employees,” said Jaroslava Rezlerová, general director of Manpower Manpower Czech Republic and Slovakia and vice-president of the Association of Recruiting Agencies as cited by the TASR newswire.
Compared to the same period of last year, employers’ hiring plans showed an increase of 4 percentage points.
Employers in three of 10 industrial sectors expect a positive hiring environment in the final quarter of the year. As in the previous quarter, the most optimistic views come from the wholesale and retail sector, with a figure growing by 9 percentage points annually.
The worst hiring climate is expected by employers in manufacturing and utility distribution, with an annual drop of 12 percent.
Regionally, the strongest hiring activity is expected by employers in Bratislava and eastern Slovakia. The weakest is foreseen in western Slovakia.
