Asbestos found a few months ago on the construction site of the Bratislava ring road, which is part of the D4 highway and R7 express dual-carriageway, may not be the biggest problem of the building process.

The embankment did not pass static loading testing, which is probably an even bigger problem than the dangerous material, Peter Gandl of the National Highway Company (NDS) told the TASR newswire.

The whole embankment is most likely to be deconstructed by the contractor of the motorway and built again, he added.

Wood and clothes

“During the inspection, the pieces of wood and some textiles and materials, which clearly do not belong to the embankment, were found there,” Gandl added, as quoted by TASR. “And, of course, they reduce its carrying capacity.”
