The state-run railway passenger carrier ZSSK has prepared several novelties for their trains. One of them is a new, modern menu in a restaurant carriage that ZSSK is launching in collaboration with Wagon Slovakia Košice (WSK).
English breakfast or oatmeal with white yoghurt and seasonal fruits will be served. As a main dish, there is a pumpkin risotto with Parmesan cheese, beef teriyaki, fresh salad with goat cheese and Pho-Bo.
Besides the restaurant carriage, mobile service with refreshment will include new dishes, for example sushi and BBQ hotdog.
“We decided to bring to novelties to the restaurant carriage inspired by world cuisine,” said Alžbeta Gajdošová Keruľová, spokesperson of WGS, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
The new concept is only in a testing operation, so it is available only in IC 44/45 train leaving Košice at 7:11 that travels through Bratislava to Vienna. The train then leaves Vienna at 14:42 and arrives to Košice at 20:42.
Safer at night
Another novelty concerns the night trains. Following the increased number of incidents, ZSSK has decided to hire guards to increase the security of passengers.Listen to our podcast:Read more
This service is also in trial operation, which will end in February 2020. Guards will serve four night fast trains (R 614 Zemplín, R 615 Zemplín, R 800 Poľana and R 801 Poľana).
During the first seven days, they had to intervene 13 times, ZSSK informed. They marched out of the train drunk or aggressive travellers or those who did not have a valid ticket and refused to buy one.
ZSSK’s statistics suggest that bothering other travellers occurs more often on night trains than those running during the day. The number of incidents has grown since October, said Filip Hlubocký, ZSSK’s spokesperson. This is why they decided to implement new measures, SITA reported.
ZSSK launched a new website, replacing the old one. Travellers will find out about the current location of the train and delays.
