SINGING COMPETITION: International Singing Contest of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský – The 22nd year of the international competition hailing the Trnava native, composer and musician M. Schneider-Trnavský, will bring 100 young opera singers, aged under 35, from 18 countries (Slovakai, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Croatia, Georgia, Japan, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine, the USA, Latvia, Lithuania, and Kazakhstan) competing for victory awarded by eight-member jury. Thed opening concert called “Spiritual Music” takes palce on May 21, bringing works of the local native as performed by the Trnava Chamber Orchestra, Mixed Choir Trnavia and soloist, conducted by Marian Lejava. Three rounds – between May 22 and 26 – will be open also to public, with the ceremonial awarding and concert of winners taking place on May 27. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Trnava Musical Spring 2017 (Trnavská Hudobná Jar, THJ) – Spiritual Music in the Basilica – The 49th year of this festival brings six concerts, this time including international ones. SPORT/CHARITY: A special cycling event passes through Slovak territory every year, full of disabled athletes and aimed at highlighting their situation but also their ambitions and successes.
